Meditation Class with Prayers for World Peace

Open to everyone, this beginner-friendly class includes a relaxing guided meditation, short teaching and inspiring chanted prayers. Discover how we can achieve a peaceful world by establishing peace within our own mind and learning to cherish others.

Each week we will cover a small section from the book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness: The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness, through which we can develop authentic love and compassion that will change our own and others’ lives. This uplifting class is a way to make a positive contribution to our world.

We should know that learning to cherish others is the best method for establishing world peace in general, and for our own peace of mind in particular.

Class Schedule & Topics

May 2017 | Developing Selfless Love: Empathy & Wisdom

“The moment we let go of our obsessive concern for our own welfare, our mind naturally relaxes and becomes lighter.”
– Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

We all want to be loved purely and unconditionally, but how do we develop and maintain pure, unconditional love for others? The main thing we have to let go of is our tightly grasping ego-mind, and then selfless love and compassion are easy to generate. These classes will teach us how to do this in a balanced, healthy way that is ultimately for the greatest good of both ourselves and others.

May 7 – What blocks our ability to cherish others?: The Faults of Self-cherishing
May 14 – Removing obstacles to cherishing others: How to Destroy Self-cherishing
May 21 – No Class (due to weekend away retreat in Sarasota)
May 28 – How to make our love selfless: The Practice of Exchanging Self with Others
