Description
What is an empowerment?
An empowerment is a special guided meditation during which we receive the blessings of a particular Buddha and make a personal connection with him or her. To receive blessings means to experience a positive change in the state of our mind through the inspiration of holy or enlightened beings. We all have the potential to develop many enlightened qualities such as universal love, compassion and wisdom, and receiving an empowerment functions to remove obstacles to our spiritual development and causes our spiritual potential to ripen more quickly.
During an empowerment, we also receive commentary to the meditative practices associated with a particular Buddha so that we feel confident and empowered to engage in those practices ourself. Through sincerely engaging in the meditation practice of a particular Buddha and receiving his or her blessings, we can more easily develop the same enlightened qualities ourself.
No previous experience of meditation is necessary to attend an empowerment. Everyone is welcome!
Manjushri Empowerment
During this empowerment, we will receive the special blessings of Buddha Manjushri, who is the manifestation of the enlightened wisdom of all Buddhas. Through receiving this empowerment we have the opportunity to make a close connection with this enlightened being and thereby increase our own wisdom greatly. Wisdom is like an inner teacher that we carry in our hearts, and like a protector that protects us from engaging in wrong actions and having to experience their unpleasant results. By engaging sincerely in the meditation practices of Manjushri we will definitely improve our Dharma wisdom, and eventually attain the ultimate peace of full enlightenment.
