Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer simple, practical methods to improve the quality of our lives and develop inner peace. These classes focus on using Buddhist understanding to help us solve our daily problems, let go of negative minds and find the lasting happiness we seek.

Each class includes guided meditation, a practical teaching, and an opportunity to ask questions. Although taught as a series, each class is self-contained and can be attended individually.

May 2017 | The Confidence to Change

We all have the potential to experience peace and happiness in our life. Through meditation we can start to recognize and eventually realize this potential, so that we can improve the quality of our life and help others do the same. In this series we will explore practical ideas from the Buddhist tradition that will give us the confidence and skill to start making positive changes in our life. Through applying the meditation practices explained in these classes, we will develop a powerful insight into the opportunity for happiness that our life presents to us. In this way we can uplift our mind and find inspiration in each day, filling our lives with joy, meaning and purpose.

May 8 – Using the power of desire to make positive change
May 15 – Improving our mind in a joyful and balanced way

June 2017 | How to Meditate Deeply: Training in Tranquil Abiding

In this series of classes we will learn how to develop and maintain a special experience of inner peace and happiness through training in meditation. Through following the instructions presented in these classes, you will learn how to meditate in an enjoyable and relaxed manner.

June 5 – Finding peace and tranquility in our own mind
June 12 – Maintaining inner peace with mindfulness
June 19 – Preventing distractions and disturbances with alertness
June 26 – Becoming deeply familiar with inner peace in meditation

July 2017 | Free your mind: How to Meditate on Emptiness

These two classes will provide a beginner-friendly introduction to Buddha’s profound teachings on emptiness – the true nature of things. Through meditating on emptiness, we can eliminate our daily problems at their source and experience a lightness and flexibility of mind that helps us respond to every situation in a more constructive and beneficial way.
